Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Who we are

Mozhi ("we", "us", "our") is a heritage language learning platform operated from Australia (ABN 72 269 836 976). General enquiries: hello@mozhiapp.com. Privacy and data protection: privacy@mozhiapp.com.

2. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Mozhi service you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be 18 or older to create an account. Accounts for children must be created and managed by a parent or guardian.

3. The service

Mozhi provides spoken heritage language lessons for diaspora families, accessible via our web and mobile applications. We offer individual child profiles and family accounts so parents can track progress across multiple children.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible.

4. Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
  • You must provide accurate information when signing up.
  • One account per household. You may not share your account with people outside your household.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse, or are used fraudulently.

5. Free trial

Visitors may try 5 chapters without an account (guest mode). New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with access to the first 5 chapters of any available language. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial period, access to paid content is paused until you choose a subscription plan. You will not be charged without explicitly entering payment details and selecting a plan.

6. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are displayed at checkout and include Australian GST where applicable.

  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain full access until then.
  • No automatic renewal charges after cancellation: Once cancelled, your subscription will not renew and you will not be charged again.
  • Refunds: We offer a full refund if you request one within 14 days of your first paid charge, provided you have not completed more than 20% of any course. After that period, we do not offer pro-rata refunds for unused time. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (see section 10).
  • Upgrades and downgrades: Plan changes take effect immediately. Upgrades are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades apply from the next billing date.
  • Failed payments: If a payment fails we will retry and notify you by email. Access may be suspended if payment remains outstanding after 7 days.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials with people outside your household.
  • Copy, redistribute, or resell any course content.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract audio, lesson data, or other content from the platform.
  • Use the service to harass, harm, or impersonate others.
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls or subscription gates.

8. Children and parental responsibility

Mozhi is intended for use by children under the supervision of their parent or guardian. The parent or guardian who creates the account is responsible for their child's use of the service and for ensuring that use complies with these terms. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create their own accounts.

9. Third-party content and licences

Some audio content on Mozhi is generated using a licensed text-to-speech service. The Nunito typeface is used under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1. All other content is original.

10. Intellectual property

All content on Mozhi — including lesson audio, written phrases, transliterations, course structure, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Mozhi. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the content for personal, non-commercial use within your household for as long as your subscription is active.

You may not copy, record, redistribute, or sublicense any course content. Downloading audio or lesson materials for offline use outside the app is not permitted.

11. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or other term or condition, implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited. If the Australian Consumer Law applies, our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is limited to resupply of the service or payment of the cost of having the service resupplied.

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Mozhi service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind beyond those required by law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific language learning outcomes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mozhi is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, unless the Australian Consumer Law or another mandatory law provides otherwise.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will notify account holders of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
