Why Mozhi is different

Built for how heritage language actually works

Printed phrase cards and family practice materials on a kitchen table
Family practice

Built around family practice

Today gives each child the next lesson and a family challenge. Progress shows what they can actually say with grandparents — not just what they've tapped through.

Conversation practice — not just phrases

Practice real conversations — Mozhi listens and responds, so every call with your grandparents feels natural. Like a patient tutor, available any time.

A curriculum, not a phrase dump

Tamil is being developed against selected CEFR listening and speaking descriptors from Pre-A1 to B2. This is a pilot framework, separate from Mozhi chapter milestones and not currently a CEFR-level certificate.

What children practise

Tiny spoken wins, repeated every day

Every lesson turns a real family phrase into listening, recognition, speaking, and a moment they can use outside the app.

Family-first — by design

Other apps are built for
one person.
Mozhi is built for
your whole family.

Most language apps assume a single learner on a single device. Mozhi is built around the family unit — because heritage language is a family project, not a solo one.

Built for school pilots

A language school can see practice, not just attendance.

Teachers assign chapters, families continue at home, and progress becomes measurable — without turning heritage learning into homework theatre. Saturday school just got a weekday habit to match.

The method

How it works

01
Listen

Start with what they already know

Your child has heard their heritage language at home their whole life. Each lesson starts from that passive understanding and turns it into confident speech.

02
Practise

Follow track-based chapters

The Library organises lessons into real-life tracks: greetings, school, meals, feelings, visits, festivals, and family conversations — so progress is always purposeful.

03
Share

See family-ready milestones

Progress tracks completed chapters, phrases learned, streaks, and achievements — and a running list of what your child can say the next time grandparents call.

My daughter used to just smile and nod when her paati called. Two months with Mozhi and she's actually replying in Tamil. My mother cried happy tears.

We always felt guilty that our kids couldn't speak Hindi properly. Mozhi made it a fun daily habit instead of a chore. Now they race each other to keep their streaks.

My parents are in Hyderabad and the kids barely spoke Telugu. After 6 weeks they're having real conversations — not perfect, but real. That's all we wanted.
