Teacher Guide
How to run the Mozhi programme — 3-step weekly rhythm
- Monday — Launch (5 min): Open the Mozhi app and play the week's focus phrase. Ask children to repeat it three times — quietly, normally, then confidently. Write the phrase on the board.
- Mid-week — Reinforce (2 min daily): Use the phrase as a transition cue. “Line up for lunch — first tell me this week's Telugu phrase.” Invite heritage-speaking children to lead.
- Friday — Family challenge (1 min): “Your challenge this weekend — say this phrase to someone at home who speaks Telugu. Come back Monday and tell us what they said.”
Classroom tips
- ✅ One phrase per day — repetition beats volume
- ✅ Celebrate every attempt, however imperfect
- ✅ Post a “phrase of the week” on the board Monday
- ✅ Ask heritage-speaking students to be pronunciation guides
- ✅ Send the parent comms letter in Week 1
Classroom activities
- 🔊 Listen & repeat — play the Mozhi audio, children repeat 3×
- 🔗 Word chain — go around the class, each child says a phrase they remember
- 🎭 Role play — pairs act out a short conversation using only the phrases learned
- 📌 Door phrase — say the phrase to enter or leave the room
About the Mozhi app
Children and families use Mozhi at home to hear native-speaker audio for every phrase. All 90 chapters follow the same conversational curriculum — greetings, family, food, feelings, school, stories. The app tracks progress, awards XP, and sends weekly nudges to keep families practicing between sessions.

We're learning Telugu!
Dear families,
This term [School name] is introducing Telugu heritage language phrases in class using the Mozhi app. Children are learning real, spoken phrases that families use at home — not textbook grammar.
Each week your child will come home with a phrase of the week. We'd love for you to practise it together — even five minutes makes a real difference.
You can hear native-speaker audio for every phrase on the free Mozhi app at mozhiapp.com. No account needed for the first four chapters.
If you have any questions, please contact [Teacher name] at [email / class page].
Warm regards,
[Teacher name]
